Link down issue on BCM57414 OCP adapter after firmware upgrade

After upgrading the firmware on my BCM57414 OCP adapter I faced link down issues on one or both ports of the adapter.

Installed firmware: 229.1.123.0 through HPE Patch bundle for Gen11 SPP 2024.04.00.00 SPP-2024.04.00.02.803

Previous firmware: 228.1.111.0

Solution

As I had the issue on all the hosts downgrading the firmware seems to be the first step. To downgrade the firmware you can download the .pkg-file on https://support.hpe.com/connect/s/softwaredetails?collectionId=MTX-5fcadb289d2a4581&tab=releaseNotes or just reinstall the package still residing on the iLO repository on all of your hosts.

After reinstalling the package and cold boot the host the firmware will be downgraded to version 228.1.111.0 and the status will have changed from “unknown” to “ok” and also the ip address are shown. Problem solved!
